c² - a² = b²

b, and a = legs

With that out of the way we're ready to solve

To do this we'll use the Pythagorean Theorem

c² - b² = a²

Here we plug 17 in for c and 14 in for b to get a

  17² - 14² = a²

289 - 196 = a²

           93 = a²

        √93 = √a²

          = a

Here we'll use the perimeter formula for a rectangle

P = 2l + 2w

P = 2(14) + 2()

P = 28 + 2
