  9 + 16 = c^2

   25 = c^2

square root both sides

    5  = c

2. 5^2 + 12^2 = c^2       a = 5, b = 12

    25 + 144 = c^2

    13 = c

3. 6^2 + 8^2 = c^2    a = 6, b = 8

    36 + 64 = c^2
