Midpoint = ( [¹/₂ (x₁ + x₂)] , [¹/₂(y₁ + y₂)])

∴ for a line segments with endpoints (4,-7) and (12, -1),

 Midpoint = ( [¹/₂ (12 + 4)] , [¹/₂(-7 - 1)])

                = ( [¹/₂ (16)] , [¹/₂(-8)])
