Hal and Renee play the following game: A bag has 14 tiles in it, , each with a letter from the phrase the probability on it. They decide that the letter y can be a vowel or a consonant. Which statement best explains whether or not the game is fair?
A) The game is fair because both Hal and Renee will get a point if the letter y is drawn.
B) The game is not fair because the probability of Hal drawing a winning letter is more than the probability of Renee drawing a winning letter.
C) The game is fair because Hal and Renee have the same probability of drawing a winning letter.
D) The game is not fair because the probability of Hal drawing a winning letter is less than the probability of Renee drawing a winning letter.

B
Step-by-step explanation:
There are more consonants in the phrase than vowels so Hal has a better chance of pulling a winning letter. Also, before any tiles have been drawn, Hal has a 9/14 chance of pulling a winning tile while Renee has a 5/14 chance.

$6.52 for the grab bag, divide that between two people and you get = $3.26
$6.52/2 = $3.26
$3.23 for the gumballs, divide that between two people and you get = $1.62
$3.23/2 = $1.62
$1.62 + $3.26 = $4.88
each of them have to pay $4.88
