Is a 3.02859 a rational number

Scientific Notation - should be a number less than 10 that is multiplied by 10 with an exponent depending on how big or small the number is.

Solution:

560,000 / 10 = 56,000

56,000 / 10 = 5,600

5,600 / 10 = 560

560 / 10 = 56

56 / 10 = 5.6

After doing this we can see that I divided 560,000 five times to get 5.6 which is smaller then 10. Then the five times we divided to get 5.6 is the exponent.

5.6 x 10^5
