5.4 groups of 1/6 ounces can be made from 9/10 ounces of gold.
Solution:
It is given that a jewelry store has 9/10 of an ounce of gold. The gold is now split into groups of 1/6 ounce groups.
The total amount of gold is 9/10 ounces
We shall convert 9/10 into decimal form for the simplicity of the calculation. Which gives us:
Now, we also know that the gold is going to be split into groups of 1/6 ounces.
To make the calculation easy we will convert 1/6 to decimal as well.
To find out how many groups can be made out of the 0.9 ounce of gold we need to divide the total quantity by the size of each group.
This can be done as follows;
So, from the above calculation we can see that 5.4 groups can be made from 9/10 ounces of gold.
