on simplifying above expression

therefore, each runner on a team will run = 1/8 km.

number of runners required to cover all distance = total distance ÷ distnace covered by each runner in the team.

= $\frac{1}{2}$ ÷ $\frac{1}{8}$

now, we will convert division sign into multiplication and flip right side fraction 1/8.

$\frac{1}{2}$ × $\frac{8}{1}$

= $\frac{1 \times8}{2\times1}$

= $\frac{8}{2}$

dividing 8 by 2, we get 4

therefore, number of runners required to cover all distance = 4 runners.
