because if you think about it, the x coordinate is the same, so that would leave the y coordinate. and 6 and 3 are only 3 spaces apart. Hopefully make sense and help.  

Part A: The starting point is in Quadrant Q. The finishing point is in Quadrant S. I determined the locations by graphing the solutions and whichever Quadrant each was in (or closest to) was the answer.
Part B: The difference between the starting point and the checkpoint coordinates are 10.8. The way to figure this out is to graph both coordinates. Since both form a horizontal line, you can just count the spaces in between. Their relation is that they have the same y-coordinate so, as I stated before, they form a horizontal line.
