Here's why: Since there are 8 slices and 6 of them we already know that they will get one slice each, so we can go ahead and subtract the 6 from 8.

That leaves us with 2 slices remaining. So, if they are going to evenly divide the two slices amongst the 6 of them, to find out how much they will receive in addition to the 1 slice already, you need to divide 2 by 6.

2÷6= , so they will each receive the  slice in addition to the 1 slice they already have.

So, you're answer would be  slices of pizza per person
