It is an bi–quadratic expression, which means it will have 4 factors.

Now, let us take $x^{2}=t$ and put it in eqn (1)

$\begin{array}{c}{\left(\mathrm{x}^{2}\right)^{2}-17 \times \mathrm{x}^{2}+16} \\ {\mathrm{t}^{2}-17 \mathrm{t}+16}\end{array}$

This is an quadratic expression, we can solve this expression by factorizing method.

$\begin{array}{l}{t^{2}-17 t+16 \times 1} \\ {t^{2}-(16+1) t+16 \times 1} \\ {t^{2}-16 t-t+16}\end{array}$

t(t – 16) – 1(t – 16)

(t – 16)(t – 1)
