The following problem was on Mrs. Brown's algebra test: Casey is making a balloon arrangement of latex balloons and mylar balloons. Each latex balloon costs $0.25 and each mylar balloon costs $1.25. The arrangement contains 15 balloons and costs $8.75. How many of each type of balloon was included? A. Jenny set up a system of equations and got a solution of (5.75, 6.25). What does her solution mean in the context of the situation? Does it make sense? B. Marie set up a system of equations and got a solution of (5, 10). What does her solution mean in the context of the situation. Does it make sense?

You just have to plug in each thing:

So f(0):

3(0)^2 - 4 = -4

so its not A

f(-2) and f(2):

3(-2)^2 - 4

3(2)^2 -4

now we don't even have to calculate these, anything to the power of an even number is a positive number so -2^2 and 2^2 both equal 4

B is correct, so you can do the others if you want to check, but if B is true the others shouldn't be true.
