The school roof needs to be repaired and paved. A roofer was hired to do the repairs. It has a 12.0 m long ladder to climb to the roof outside the school. The exterior wall of the school is 10 m from the ground. According to safety standards, its ladder must extend above the top of the wall by at least 1m. In addition, the foot of the ladder should be at a distance of at least 1m from the base of the wall for every 3m of the ladder. Is the ladder long enough for this task? What is the minimum length the ladder must be to meet safety standards?
