1. Assume a salvaged electric motor rated 2.5 Hp continuous duty at1140 rpm is available to drive a squirrel cage blower that performs best when driven at 280 rpm. The resulting 600 CFM air flow is to be directed through a fine mesh electrostatically charged 20" x 30" filter then into a manifold that distributes clean (i.e., virus free) air to the helmets of up to 8 EMTs working in close proximity to presumptive Covid-19 infection. Develop a V-belt drive for this life-critical application with a generous factor of safety (i.e., size for at least 2x calculated Hd). If at all possible, settle on standard belt length(s) and pulley combinations, to obtain a center distance > 20" but still within the recommended range.
