The mid-latitude cyclones are defined as the large cyclones that has a diameter of approximately 2000 kilometers. It forms a low atmospheric pressure at the center of these cyclones. The surface pressure sometimes, may increase to about 950 millibars in case of a very strong mid-latitude cyclones. They are commonly known as the frontal cyclones.
In this type of cyclones, the warm air rises up, forming a low pressure zone. As this warm air rises up, it gets cool and become dense, and after a certain period time, it eventually sinks.
In the northern hemisphere, this wind blows in the anticlockwise direction and moves inward. The opposite case happens in the southern hemisphere.
