I believe the answer is:  adrenal; cortisol

Adrenal gland had the function  to produce adrenaline. This adrenaline would increase our alertness everytime we are experiencing a certain level of stress.  Cortisol on the ohter hand, would suppress our immune system and increase the rate of our metabolism when we are experiencing stressful situations.
