Language creates arenas of exclusivity and inclusivity, often simultaneously. Think of how legal language is most understood only by lawyers and leaves lay people out of the loop. The medical field, waiting tables, being a part of an athletic team, academia and even Starbucks create rules of language that allow some to feel a part of the whole while restricting access to others. Please write about an area you have experienced the exclusivity of language. Also, reflect on how when a culture is being controlled or extinguished, language is often key.
