What happens when the price of substitute goes up?​

Increased price of a product compels consumers to switch to substitutes raising their demand.

Substitutes are goods where you can consume one in place of the other. The prices of complementary or substitute goods also shift the demand curve. When the price of a good that complements a good decreases, then the quantity demanded of one increases and the demand for the other increases.

Explanation:

The Supreme Court upheld Palko's second conviction. In his majority opinion, Cardozo (the supreme court majority opinion) formulated principles that were to direct the Court's actions for the next three decades. He noted that some Bill of Rights guarantees--such as freedom of thought and speech--are fundamental, and that the Fourteenth Amendment's due process clause absorbed these fundamental rights and applied them to the states. Protection against double jeopardy was not a fundamental right.

NOTE: This court's decision was largely overruled in 1969.
