Although King is a respected individual for his part in the movement, clergymen criticize King for the violence that occurs because of his demonstrations and nonviolent tactics against the law. King feels that American blacks have achieved little by using the political channels in the city. King believed that the only option for equality was through demonstration and peaceful protest. 11.
