The correct answer is B. What encouraged Siddhartha Gautama to leave his home were visions.
Explanation:
Siddhartha Gautama was a philosopher known for the founding of Buddhism.
At age 29, the Buddha first saw an old man, later a sick man and then a dead man. He thereby realized that the life he had lived so far was an illusion and that real life was full of suffering. When he also met a monk, he decided that he, like the monk, would practice rigorous penance exercises and asceticism. For six years, the Buddha lived in the forest, eating only one grain of rice a day; eventually he fainted with fatigue. This led to the realization that neither the total fulfillment of desire which he had received in his father's palace, nor the total neglect which formed the basis of the ascetic, was the path to salvation.
At 35-year-old, the Buddha decided to meditate in the shade of a living tree until he reached the perfect enlightenment. He resisted the temptations of Mara and finally acknowledged his past existence and the chain of causes. Thereby he became a Buddha.
After the Enlightenment, the Buddha traveled around northern India and preached his teachings, Dharma, on how to save oneself. About 483 BC he died in Kushinagar.
