1. Briefly explain why 6mM of potassium chloride (KCH) was introduced to match 9mM of sodium chloride. What concentration of potassium chloride would be used if that of sodium
chloride had been 15mM?
2. When deionized water was used in place of potassium chloride solution, there was no
sodium transport. Describe what would have happened if 6mM potassium chloride solution
was added to the OmM sodium chloride intracellular solution.
3. Upon introducing 400 glucose carrier molecules into the cell membrane, the rate of Na' and
K*transport was unaffected. Explain why such an observation was made.
4. State the mode of transport of Glucose, Na* and K, and explain the rationale behind your
choices of modes of transport, as stated above.
