Chloroplast and mitochondria are both involved in energy production, they are also similar in that they both have their own DNA. Difference: chloroplast is in plant cells only whereas mitochondria is in both animal and plant cells. Chloroplast is the organelle that captures the energy of the sun and harvests it in the molecule of glucose during the process of photosynthesis. Mitochondria releases the energy in glucose during the process of cellular respiration.
