Basic function of homeostasis is keep an organism in a state of equilibrium and balance.

Positive feedback mechanism enhances stimulus, resulting in more products shifting the state from equilibrium to imbalance. The negative feedback inhibits change and stimulus, shifting the system to balance and stability.
