Explanation:
An anaerobe is an organism that lives where there is no oxygen in the environment. These are bacteria and are thought to have existed since the early times when the Earth had an atmosphere that was devoid of oxygen. They are normally found in places that normally lack oxygen such as in the mud at the bottom of still water bodies, in the root nodules of legumes (they have anaerobic nitrogen fixing bacteria) and in the intestine of vertebrates where there are very low levels of oxygen.
