How did the development of flowering plants affect the evolution of birds and mammals?

Plant flowering led to there being an abundance of food as the plants would keep growing and growing and herbivores didn't have to worry at all about their food sources. The plants thrived and changed climates and habitats and those who could not adapt became extinct.
