Lot of forests have been cut down, wetlands dried out, and grasslands converted. The main reasons have been to convert these areas into residential or agricultural areas. In the past two centuries though, there has also been another major reason, and that is the industrial development, and in order for the people to make space for the industry and to get to resources for it to run, they have destroyed countless ecosystems.
