Is it important for scientists to share their findings with the public? why or why not?

If only they know then how will there finding help anyone or anything but them

Yes, so other scientists can read their work, replicate it and validate their findings. Or so they can replicate and build off their work to come up with a new finding

The statement that is not true is that lakes are smaller and more shallow than ponds. Ponds are usually smaller than lakes and in most cases more shallow than a lake. Ponds usually do not have a direct source feeding them either as they are usually land locked.
