Two processes that occur during meiosis produce genetically diploid cells.
Further Explanation:
The gamete formation is the sole process of meiosis. Its goals are to form daughter cell which carries half the number of chromosomes present in the parent cell. The division of the cell starts from diploid cell that form haploid cell and then again to diploid cell. In humans, haploid cells made in meiosis are sperm and egg.
In meiosis the division occurs in two steps,
• Meiosis I – In this phase the homologues pairs are
separated for division.
• Meiosis II – In this phase the sister chromatids of the
chromosome are separated.
When an egg gets fertilized with sperm diploid set of chromosome is formed from two set of haploid chromosome present in each cell and a new genome is formed. The two homologous chromosomes received from parents who have similar but not identical chromosomes are paired to form an organism.
