Um professor do Ensino Médio de uma tradicional escola de Juiz de Fora resolveu fazer uma aula prática sobre membrana plasmática com os seus alunos. Ele criou, em laboratório, células com as superfícies fluorescentes para o estudo do modelo proposto por Singer e Nicolson. Neste experimento, ele usou uma célula com a superfície fluorescente e observou-a em microscópio acoplado a um laser. O laser utilizado neste caso é capaz de degradar a fluorescência conjugada às moléculas na superfície celular. Iniciado o experimento, ele expôs um ponto específico da célula ao laser. Após cinco minutos de exposição da incidência do laser, observou que a região exposta perdia a fluorescência, mas o restante da célula continuava fluorescente.
