Water is produced and released in the process.
Explanation:
Disaccharides are the simple sugars that make the foundation of more composite carbohydrates. In a disaccharide the cyclic forms of two sugars are associated together by the process of condensation reaction. When a molecule of glucose and a molecule of fructose combine together they give rise to a molecule of sucrose.
In the process, a hydroxyl group from one molecule and a hydrogen atom from the other molecule gets eliminated in the form of water, with the resulting covalent bond associating the two sugars in combination at that point. Sucrose is generally termed as table sugar and is an illustration of a disaccharide.
