PLEASE HELP! Assignment: Edmentum, Course Activity: Oxidizing and Reducing Chemicals. Questions Below PART B
Observe and record the appearances of the metal strips and the solutions in the test tubes.
Magnesium-
Zinc-
Copper-
Zinc Nitrate-
Magnesium Nitrate-
Copper (II) NIitrate-
Part C
Place the copper strips in test tubes 3 and 6. If the strips are too wide, you may bend them to fit them in the test tubes.

Place the magnesium strips in test tubes 1 and 4. If necessary, use the stirring rod to push the strips down until they’re entirely submerged.

Place the zinc strips in test tubes 2 and 5.

Record your observations of the appearance of the substances in the test tubes immediately after adding the metal strips. Include any evidence of a chemical reaction. If there’s no evidence of a reaction, write “no reaction.”

1-
2- no reaction
3- no reaction

PART D
After about 30 minutes, observe the substances in the test tubes again. Record your observations. Include any evidence of a chemical reaction.

PART E
Leave the test tubes for about 24 hours. Then observe the metal strips in the test tubes again. Record your observations. Include any evidence of a chemical reaction.

PART F
In the original mixtures, test tube 1 contained magnesium and a zinc compound, and test tube 2 contained zinc and a magnesium compound. A similar relationship exists between test tubes 3 and 4 and between test tubes 5 and 6. Compare what took place in each corresponding pair of test tubes. What general conclusion can you draw?

TASK 2
EXTRA INFO
Test tube 1 mass was .38g to begin with and now is .49g. Test Tube 5 mass was 3.53g to begin with and now is 3.78g.
PART B
Compare the mass of the magnesium strip from test tube 1 with the initial mass of the same strip measured in task 1, part A. Is the mass the same, or is it different? If it’s different, explain what may have caused the difference.

PART C
Compare the mass of the zinc strip from test tube 5 with the mass of the same strip measured in task 1, part A. Based on your observations of the metal strip, explain what factors may have added to its mass or caused a decrease in its mass. Which had the greater effect? Explain your reasoning.

PART D
What evidence can be used to support the fact that oxidation, reduction, or both took place in test tube 5?

TASK 3
PART A
Copper atoms are heavier than magnesium atoms. So, although each atom of magnesium can produce one atom of copper, the masses won’t be the same. The ratio of the atomic weight of copper to the atomic weight of magnesium is about 2.61. Given this ratio and the initial mass of the magnesium strip measured in task 1, part A, calculate the mass of copper that can be produced. Recall: Mg + Cu(NO3)2 → Cu + Mg(NO3)2

PART C
Compare the amount of copper predicted in part A with the amount measured in part B. What percentage of the predicted amount was obtained? Why aren’t these values the same?
