Set out the elements along a line in order of atomic weight, using
Figure 7.3 on page 119 to help you. Start the line with lithium (Li)
and finish with calcium (Ca), but miss out neon (Ne) and argon
(Ar), which were not known when Newlands was working. Mark
the positions of lithium, sodium and potassium, which have similar
properties. Count the number of elements from lithium to sodium,
and also from sodium to potassium. What do you find?
