Here we have to discuss the least number hydrogen bond may be found in a molecule.
The position of the least number of hydrogen bonds in a molecule will be the presence of least electrongative atom in the molecule.
The hydrogen bond is a weak interaction between the proton already bonded with an atom and an electronegative atom present in the same or neighboring molecules. If the hydrogen bond present in the same molecule the bond is called intra-molecular hydrogen bond and if it is present with the neighboring molecule then it is called intra molecular hydrogen bond.
The possibility of hydrogen bond depends upon the accumulation of partial positive charge on the proton and partial negative charge on the acceptor atom i.e. the electronegative atom.
The strength of the hydrogen bond between three most electronegative atoms oxygen (O), nitrogen (N) and fluorine (F) is H...F > HO > HN.
The chrome of electronegativity between the said atoms are F>>O>N. Thus the least strength of the hydrogen bond or the finding of the hydrogen bond depends on the position of the presence of the least electronegative atom in the molecule.
