2.3.3 Test (CST): The Short Story, Part 2 Question 2 of 20
Read the passage and then answer the question:
At first, I didn't have much interest in the house my great-uncle had left
me. I was comfortable living in the city. When I received the deed,
however, I decided that I should at least give the place a quick
inspection before I sold it. When I drove up, the place looked like
something out of a horror movie: an old, rotting Victorian mansion with
turrets and cobwebs. I stepped inside, took one look at the spooky
interior, and turned around to leave.
Which final sentence to the paragraph would likely create the most suspense?
O A. But where the door had once been was now a solid wall.
O B. "Not this time, ghosts!" I announced as I left the place.
O C. I then drove straight to the nearest real estate office.
O D. A feeling of dread had overtaken me, so I was glad to go.
