Directions. Below are lines from the story read about showing what should be done or
not considering the values we learned. Determine whether the sentences convey a
positive or negative message.
1. The woodcutter took out his handkerchief and pretend to wipe at his
eyes
2. The tiger turned away, as tears fell down his cheeks, leaving the
woodcutter unharmed
3. We are here to bring offerings for our grandmother in loving memory
of our mother.
4. When a fierce tiger threatens him, a woodcutter convinces the animal
that he is really his older brother
5. The woodcutter noticed that his face had turned suddenly warm and
realized that it was his own tears streaming down his cheeks.

Genie’s story indicates about brain development that There are critical periods for a child’s brain development. According to the linguistic theory developed by Noam Chomsky, there is a small window of opportunity for a child to learn his/her mother tongue. This critical period closes around the age of six. If a a child is not exposed to any language during this period his/her abilty to speak will be seriously impaired.
