This quote belongs to Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.  In this passage, Robinson Crusoe reflects upon his own doings.  He leaves his home against his parent's wishes who wanted him to pursue a career in law.  Crusoe was obsessed with traveling and seeing the world, so he decided to set sail from Kingston upon Hull on a sea voyage.  In the quote he thinks earnestly about what he had done, and how his parents felt, he feels he failed his duty to "God and his father".  He looks back upon his actions, accepting "the judgement of Heaven" for not obeying his parent's counsel.  This passage shows his religious ties to Christianity and a strong self consciousness which precedes maturity.
