I believe that the best answer choice, from the selection, for the question: Which detail from the excerpt best indicates that one of the author´s purposes in writing "It´s Our World, Too!: Young People Who are Making a Difference" was to create suspense?, would be: "I couldn´t believe I was really doing this," Neto recalls.
Explanation:
"It´s Our World, Too!: Young People Who are Making a Difference", its a book that was written by Phillip Hoose and it was originally printed in 1978. In essence this book shows people how they can too make a change in the world, how they too, can become part of the changes that are necessary, by showing examples of young people who are already in that process, or who once also wanted to become a part of the change, and did so. In this particular case, we see the story of two young people who wish to address an issue with a board of members who have the power to either give them what they want, or destroy their ideas. Although the tension can be felt almost from the start, the real suspense in this excerpt comes, not with the mention of the white board members of the school, but rather, when Neto, the one who must present their ideas and convince the board to see things their way, thinks to himself that he cannot believe what he was doing, as if almost doubting if he had what it took to achieve the goal. This generates enormous suspense, because you start trying to wonder what kind of proposal is going to be made, and also if the board members will sway their way or not. It almost makes you hold your breath when you read that part.
