I agree with the quotation. Literature should not be all about sound facts nor is it about fantasies. It must lie in between. We each have our own levels of understanding and our own personal fantasies. A work of literature must provides us with something new in order for the time spent in consuming it be worthwhile. The Book Thief tells us of hard facts but it also provides us with something else, how a life of young child harboring a wanted man is changed after the fact.
