Horatio and Marcellus show their loyalty to Hamlet by swearing not to tell anyone about the appearances of the ghost. What risks might be involved in being Hamlet’s ally (i.e. what reasons do they have not to follow him)? From what we have read and learned about Hamlet’s character so far, why do you think they decide to follow him despite the risks? Be specific. Would you follow Hamlet if you were in their situation? Why or why not? Explain your answer making specific references to the action and events from Act 1 of the play.
