How does the writer use both foreshadowing and suspense to engage the reader of “after twenty years”?

Sergie was not pleased and was very annoyed when he found out that someone was knocking loudly on his door. His response can be rational and can also be irrational depending on which point of view. If it is the point of view of Sergie, his reaction is rational because he could have slept more, rested well and enjoyed his privacy rather than entertaining a kid who is just asking questions around the neighborhood. However, in a different point of view, it is irrational because it would not kill to answer a few questions from a kid who has gone round and round in filming the scenario. It would not hurt if he only had shared a couple of his thoughts to the kid.
