In the book to kill a mockingbird How does Lee create a creepy mood in describing the kids’ nighttime visit to the Radley place?

The answer is C. The dog was playful and energetic when they brought her home and they had to make sure she had all her sots and was housebroken. 

C is the answer since all of the other options either 1. was not grammatically correct 2. did not connect with the previous text, and, 3. the semicolon was used incorrectly.
