My goal was to win (insert type of sport) tournament. My motivation for this was extrinsic because I wanted to win the trophy to display in my room. I stayed motivated by hanging a picture of the trophy where I wanted to put it. This made me work harder so I could eventually put the real trophy there instead. I also stayed motivated by challenging my friends to practice tournaments. When my friends beat me in practice, it made me want to win even more.
