The Giver Ch. 18: Why is it considered to be such a problem for the people of the community to get the memories? What might they do?

The risk of obsolescence has caused this problem. Technologies come and go. There is a whole lot of computer data out there stored in unreadable formats. Fortunately this is starting to become less of a problem as we move away from removable media and are putting data in the cloud.
