The wind was loud, cruel, and fast. The sky was fearsome, and we stood aghast until my sister told us to hide in the basement shelter to reside. The basement shelter was damp and cold, and smelled faintly of dust and mold. When the wind went calm, we slowly rose to peak above, and assess our woes. It was unlike anything we had ever seen. To our home, the storm had been quite mean. It lay about in ruin and tatters. The walls were smashed, our belongings scattered. My sister was about to cry when out of the corner of her eye she spotted our mother who had just drove home to see her children standing alone. Amid the debris and their scattered treasures. To see them safe and sound was an absolute pleasure. We had lost our home, but had each other. My sister and I, and now our mother.
