When i was fair and young"
by queen elizabeth i circa 1585
when i was fair and young, then favor graced me.
of many was i sought their mistriss for to be,
but i did scorn them all and answered them therefore:
go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.
how many weeping eyes i made to pine in woe,
how many sighing hearts i have not skill to show,
but i the prouder grew and still this spake therefore:
go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.
then spake fair venus' son, that brave victorious boy,
saying: you dainty dame, for that you be so coy,
i will so pluck your plumes as you shall say no more:
go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.
as soon as he had said, such change grew in my breast
that neither night nor day i could take any rest.
wherefore i did repent that i had said before:
go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.

After reading the text presented above the three examples of diction that I found add the overall tone to this text are the following: Importune, Pine, and Scorn. Each of this give the reader understand the emotional power to the piece. For example Importune tell us that she is bothered by the man and wanted to be left alone. Pine, which means to yearn, gives us the feeling that she misses the time when men longed for her. And finally Scorn which means that she wanted to be left alone in a negative manner.
(b) list at least three examples of imagery in the text that add to the overall tone. Explain how each description contributes to the emotional power of the piece.
The three examples of imagery that I could found in the text and that add the overall tone are the following: “But I the prouder grew” -It shows the readers the pride she felt and how much regret she felt. , “I will so pluck your plumes” - It represents the pain of the people she hurt., and “When I was fair and young” - Repent and regret of how she acted when she was young and beautiful.
(c) List the examples of important details the author chose to include. Explain how these details contribute to the emotional power of the piece.
I believe that the important details the author chose to include where the way how she responded to the attention from men she had at the time. This not only shows us the readers the mistakes she made but also the reason for her sincere repent.
(d) list the examples of important details the author chose to omit. Explain how these missing details contribute to the emotional power of the piece.
I believe the the important details the author chose to omit are the fact of whether or not she chose a man later on or if she later on fell victim to her own decision of turning them away.
I hope it helps, Regards.

The contempt he has for Trinculo.
Caliban uses this word in Act III, scene 2. The passage is the following:
I say, by sorcery he got this isle;
From me he got it. If thy greatness will
Revenge it on him, for I know thou darest,
But this thing dare not,
In this scene, Caliban is plotting with Stephano to take the island away from Prospero, and rule it. He refers to Stephano as "thy greatness" and says that he believes he has what it takes to carry it out. However, he thinks little of Trinculo and does not think he would dare commit something like that. The contempt Caliban has for Trinculo is shown in his use of the word "thing."
