1. The main idea: A king is supposed to be just to his subjects and pious to God. We see that through the characters of Melchizedek and the king of Sodom in their relation to Abram. Melchizedek is a king and priest at the same time, an epitome of divine order and its embodiment on earth. In a way, he is a precursor to Jesus Christ himself. On the other hand, the king of Sodom is his absolute opposite: a fraud who is trying to trick both people and God.

2. The main idea is: God knows his subjects and gives them only so much burden they can bear. Job's virtues of maturity, righteousness, and piety qualified him before God for the ultimate suffering, which would bless him even more eventually.
