“i would like to lose 20 pounds, and am considering going on the atkins diet. i understand that, on the atkins diet, i would be allowed to eat high quantities of protein and fat but very limited quantities of carbohydrates. i don’t understand how eating foods such as bacon and eggs, while not eating foods such as fresh fruits and root vegetables, could possibly make me lose weight. can you explain how this works? ”
