5. What was the real intent of the Sugar Act?

The intent of the sugar act was to raise revenue for the British government to pay offs their debts from the seven years war

The British was in tons and tons of debt due to their past wars which made them have to think fast. The British still considered the colonists to be under their ruling so they decided to put tons and tons of taxes on them. These taxes were then considered to become acts and one of the many acts passed was the Sugar Act which lead to other acts including the tea act, the stamp act and the intolerable act (named after the colonists). ~ hoped that helped a little :)

The goals of the restored government were expressed by the new Emperor in the Charter Oath. The Restoration led to enormous changes in Japan's political and social structure and spanned both the late Edo period (often called the Bakumatsu) and the beginning of the Meiji period.
