The Declaration of Independence was the first statement and document that helped the United States to make a statement by a nation’s people to have the right to choose their own document. In mid-June, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin were tasked to make a draft of the declaration. Later on, on July 4 of 1976 was presented to the continental congress and was approved (though most historians accept that it was officially signed on August 2 of 1976). Following the Declaration of Independence, the American colonies now were independent states. In consequence, each state needed to have their own constitution; and the state constitutions were formed. It took from 1976 to 1978 to make the complete changes on each state. The Articles of Confederation served as a written document that established the functions of the government of the U.S. It was written in 1977 but was not ratified until march 1, 1781. Finally, the Constitutional Convention took place from May 25 to September 17, 1787. The intention if this convention was to produce fundamentals laws for the states.
