John J. Pershing commanded the American troops is Europe, known as the American Expeditionary force.
Explanation:
The American Expeditionary Force (AEF) consisted of the US Armed Forces sent to Europe during World War I. During the US involvement in World War I, the AEF fought in France during the last year of the war, along with French and British allied forces against the forces of imperialist Germany. In the same year, some troops fought alongside the Italians against the Austro-Hungarian forces. The AEF assisted the French army on the Western Front during the offensive on Ena in June 1918, and made a major contribution during the fighting in the Battle of St. Michael and the offensive on Muse and Argon. This expeditionary force was under the orders of General John J. Pershing, who was appointed to this post after the sudden death on February 19, 1917 of General Frederick Funston, originally appointed to this post by the President Woodrow Wilson.
