England decided that since they fought on american soil, then it was only fair to make colonists pay for it. James Watt was a Scottish mechanical engineer and inventor. The improvements he made to the Newcomen machine gave rise to what is known as a water steam machine, which would be fundamental in the development of the first Industrial Revolution, both in the United Kingdom and in the rest of the world.

Watt contributed greatly to the development of the steam engine, converting it, from a technological project, to a viable and economical way of producing energy. Watt discovered that the Newcomen machine was spending almost three quarters of the steam energy in heating the piston and cylinder. Watt developed a separate condensing chamber that significantly increased efficiency. So far, that was one of the best developments in history.
Watt also developed the steam horse concept, while the power unit of the International System of Units, the watt -W- was named in his honor.
